Jacob Turner-Barrett is a Kentucky attorney proudly serving Somerset and the surrounding South Central Kentucky communities. Born and raised in Somerset, Jacob has deep roots in the area and a strong commitment to representing local families with integrity, diligence, and care.
Jacob’s practice focuses primarily on family law and juvenile matters, drawing on years of hands-on courtroom experience in District Court, Juvenile Court, and Family Court. He previously served as a staff attorney in Pulaski Circuit Family Court, where he worked closely on cases involving child custody, dependency, neglect, and abuse proceedings, termination of parental rights, DNA and paternity actions, and other matters directly affecting children and families. This experience provides him with a practical understanding of how family courts evaluate evidence, apply the law, and make decisions in high-stakes cases.
Jacob later served as a public defender with the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, where he represented clients in criminal and juvenile delinquency cases. His work included District Court bench trials, District Court jury trials, extensive motion practice, and appellate-style legal briefing on complex legal issues. He has also represented juveniles in delinquency proceedings and transfer-eligible cases, advocating to protect their rights while accounting for the long-term consequences unique to youth involved in the justice system.
While Jacob’s practice emphasizes family and juvenile matters, he also represents clients in criminal defense cases, particularly at the District Court level, and is committed to ensuring that every client receives thorough preparation, clear communication, and principled advocacy.
Jacob believes that legal representation should be both strategic and compassionate. He works to ensure that clients understand the process, their options, and the potential outcomes of their cases, while providing steady guidance during some of life’s most difficult moments.
He is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and is committed to ethical, professional, and client-centered representation.
